1. Anichess Season 7: Skill Meets Stakes

Anichess launched Season 7 on March 19 with its boldest feature yet — Gambit Mode. Players wager 100 $CHECK per match in a competitive chess format where spells are assigned randomly, removing any pay-to-win advantage.

Winners take the pot instantly. Three separate leaderboards track the top 50 players, distributing 250,000 $CHECK weekly to those who complete at least 15 matches. Week 1 even included loss rebates of 25 $CHECK per game, and double points during peak hours (13:30–16:30 UTC).

This isn’t an airdrop play. Anichess rewards actual gameplay — through match wins, leaderboard rankings, and seasonal events. For competitive players looking to earn through skill, this is one to watch.

2. Pudgy World: No Wallet Required

Pudgy World went live on March 10 as a browser-based social game built on Abstract Layer-2, backed by $11M from Founders Fund. The key differentiator? No wallet, no download, no crypto knowledge required.

Players explore “The Berg” — 12 towns filled with quests, fishing mini-games, and social interactions. Think Club Penguin meets Web3. Pudgy Penguin NFT holders and toy buyers (Walmart/Target) can scan QR codes for exclusive avatar traits, but the game is fully playable without any crypto at all.

The PENGU token rallied 8.2% around launch. Pudgy World sits alongside Pudgy Party (mobile) and Pengu Clash (TON PvP) in a growing ecosystem that’s quietly onboarding mainstream audiences.

3. Ragnarok Landverse: Classic MMORPG Goes On-Chain

Ragnarok Landverse brings back the beloved Ragnarok Online as a Web3 game on BNB Chain, playable on browser, iOS, and Android. The latest update — Nightmare Clock Tower — dropped on March 18, adding a level 150+ dungeon with monsters ranging from level 155 to 170+.

Five new cards with set bonuses for physical and magic damage open up fresh build possibilities. The same-day Party Buff 2X activation makes this a great time for guilds to tackle the new endgame content together.

4. The Sandbox NEXT: Mobile Battle Royale

The Sandbox has announced NEXT, a standalone mobile battle royale game that marks a significant shift in strategy. Rather than porting its existing voxel-building platform to mobile, The Sandbox is building a dedicated, fast-paced competitive experience from the ground up.

NEXT requires a Sandbox account login, and some NFTs will be interoperable between the main platform and the mobile game. This is The Sandbox’s most direct attempt at reaching mobile-native gamers — a market that most blockchain gaming projects have struggled to penetrate.

5. Lost Glitches Season 17: TCG Meets Cyberpunk

Lost Glitches Season 17 launched March 20 on Steam and Epic Games Store — a TCG-RPG hybrid from Honig Studios that’s quietly building one of the most polished card games in Web3. This season adds 20 new cards across five syndicates to its 300+ card pool.

The Mastery system remains skill-based: win ranked matches to earn points across three branches, unlocking credits, resources, and exclusive cosmetics like the Fire Dancer Avatar and Season VS Banner. A new tournament structure features ranked ladder, Draft Mode (Wednesday/Friday), and monthly TRIALS.

6. MapleStory Universe: The Numbers Speak

Nexon’s MapleStory Universe on Avalanche continues to post impressive growth. The Winter Update (December 2025 – February 2026) brought in 96,000 new players, a 171% increase in on-chain transactions, and pushed total accounts past 2 million.

Players can mint character NFTs at level 60 with custom names. The ecosystem connects through Henesys L1 with marketplace, swap, and warp functionality. With a legacy IP, proven game mechanics, and real traction numbers, MapleStory Universe stands out as a case study in how to bring a traditional gaming audience into Web3.

What This Means for the GameFi Market

The through-line across all these updates is clear: GameFi is moving past speculation toward sustainable, skill-based models. Anichess and Lost Glitches layer free rewards onto competitive play. Pudgy World and MapleStory Universe lower the barrier to entry. Ragnarok and The Sandbox expand across platforms.

The projects gaining traction in spring 2026 share common traits — quality gameplay, multi-chain presence, and earning mechanics that reward time and skill over investment size. The speculative P2E era is fading. What’s replacing it is better.
